FAQs
How Do I Know Which Trikke to Choose?
The
Trikkes that we stock are generally categorized into those that would
be suitable for kids, teenagers then adults. However, there will
inevitably be situations that require a little more guidance as to
suitability. If you're selecting for a child, for example, the age
range is not always the only factor to consider. Height, strength,
fitness will all feature in the choice. Although we sell on-line,
we're happy to provide advice on the phone. We want you to make an
informed choice so, if you're in any doubt, phone us on 0141 564 5271.
If
you see a Trikke as an investment in your health and fitness, (or that
of your kids), you'll want to think about how often you'll ride - and
the ground that you'll be riding over. The smaller Trikkes for
children, T5 for example, have polyurethane wheels all round. These
can be used successfully on any surface that you would expect to see a
scooter or skates used. In other words, the smoother the surface, the
better the ride.
If your interest is in riding long distances,
10, 15, 20miles+ , the T12 Roadster is the best option. With 12" air
tyres, it is the biggest Trikke in the range and, being heavier than
the rest of the range, can be a more challenging to manouvre. If you
are around 5'3" or above, you should find that you are able to ride the
T12 Trikke Roadster, although arm strength is more of a factor with the
T12 than the T78, T7 or T67. The Trikke Handlebars are all adjustable
in height.

Is There a 'Best' Trikke to Learn On?
For
most adults, the T78 will be a lot easier to master than a T12. There
are a couple of reasons for saying this. The first is the weight of
the Trikke itself. A T78, for example, weighs around 10 kilos, whilst
the T12 weighs around 14 kilos. For someone just learning to Trikke,
the T12 will feel a lot less 'nimble' than the T78 (or smaller) and, as
such, make it more difficult to pick up the technique of Trikking.
The
second reason for choosing the T78 if you're just beginning relates to
the height of the riding platforms off the ground. On a T78, with 7"
and 8" wheels, the maximum height of the riding platform from the
ground will be 9 inches. This compares with a 13inch height from
ground to riding platform on the T12. If you are quite tall, this will
not present any significant challenges but if you are a smaller person,
the height of the T12 is a significant consideration if you need to
'push-off' (like using a scooter) to get started at first.
If you already have experience of riding a Trikke, the T12 is a brilliant Trikke for long-distance, endurance riding.
